What's Thanksgiving without a little bird?

I was thinking more along the lines of TURKEY for Thanksgiving day. However, the kittens couldn't wait. Actually it began with their mother. I saw the whole thing happen, and of COURSE I didn't have the camera to capture all of this. Here's the first part of the story...not photographed. I'm outside sipping on coffee and hear a big WHAM by my neighbor's outbuilding. As I look over there, I see a bird fall from beside the building's little window. And Boots...she came out of nowhere and POUNCE. She had it in her mouth and took off running. The kittens...who were on the carport with me, took off after her, and Oreo managed to steal the catch from her mother. By now I had the camera.

My photo session began with capturing Oreo "in flight" with the catch. Those little legs were just-a-gettin' it. I got a bird...I got a bird...I got a bird...

Here she stops to show off her catch to me. Look Mom....I gots a bird. And you ain't gettin' it.

She decided to move further away from me. Notice the evil eye she's giving me. Don't even THINK about takin' this bird away from me!

Rowdy decides to get in on the action, but Oreo is having no part of him being around. Boy...you touch this bird and your face will be smacked from here to the street.....grrrrrr.

Nikko is oblivious. She decides to sit on a log and sharpen her claws. I don't understand what all the excitement's about....

Oreo has a new moustache. Hey mom, these feathers tickle my nose...

The others surround her waiting to see if they can have a turn. They ain't gettin' this bird...

She escapes through the brush and emerges on the other side, bird in mouth. They ain't gettin' this bird...

I'm gonna run off and hide...they'll never find me....

Happy Thanksgiving!

Oh yeah, she was proud! LOL She was also being very selfish and not sharing with her siblings.

Years ago one of my mama cats brought her kittens a bird INTO the Dining Room on THANKSGIVNG Day with about 12 people there for the meal, LOL. Still family story, that one!
