Cairn Terrier Painting in Progress #2

Still continuing on with Dougal's portrait. I have all of his base colors down, and now I'm working on shadows and refining major areas and fur separations. Then I'll do my "squinty-eye" test - where I stand back and look with squinted eyes, to see if my shadows and coloring is correct. When that's complete, then I'll do final detail work on the portrait. This next stage takes a good while, plus I've worked it so much right now I need to let the oil pastels cool down a bit, so I thought I'd go ahead and post this in progress.
